Welcome to Glasgow - SANDS
For support when your baby dies
The prime aim of SANDS is to provide support to bereaved parents following the death of a baby. Many parents in this situation receive only minimal support or understanding from their relatives and friends.
When bereaved parents contact us we endeavour to help by talking with them and inviting them to our monthly meetings, locations and times can be found under Support Services These meetings are open and informal and they provide comfort and assistance to the parents by bringing them together with others who have a similar loss.
It is not our policy to make the initial contact with bereaved parents, rather we prefer they contact us when they feel the need. We are therefore dependent on parents being referred to us by hospitals, health visitors, G.P.’s, social workers, etc. To assist with this we circulate the list of meeting dates and befriender contacts.
The befriender’s list also provides parents with a telephone contact for use in times of stress.
Our befrienders are all bereaved parents and are involved with SANDS on a voluntary basis.
